Sprinkler Fitters
and Apprentices Local Union 550 is dedicated to the
education and training of its members. We strive to stay
abreast of the continual evolution of fire sprinkler systems
and fire safety regulations. |

Together with the Signatory Contractors of the
National Fire
Sprinkler Association (NFSA) we work to Save the Lives and Save
the Property of the people of Massachusetts. The
NFSA
was created to promote and improve the methods of fire
protection, the discussion and consideration of all such
matters as may be of general interest to the welfare,
progress, and building up of the automatic sprinkler
equipment business.
Together we work to discuss, adopt, and lobby for rules,
regulations, and laws to give to the public the best service
possible by adopting such measures as will produce the best
and most satisfactory equipment and give to the public the
highest standard of fire protection that can be afforded by
such systems.
Our Journeymen and Apprentices are among the best trained in
the world. Continuing Education classes are offered on a
regular basis to our Journeymen to keep them abreast of
changes and trends in the sprinkler industry through a
telecommunications link to the United Association.
In addition, our apprentices are given hands on training in
our state of the art valve rooms, CAD instruction in our
computer lab, as well as classroom instruction. This
training assures that our contractors and end-users get the
‘best and the brightest’ to design, install and service a
quality fire protection system.
No matter how big or small the project, our members work
safely, proudly, reliably and quickly ensuring that the fire
protection system will operate correctly every time and that
projects remain on-budget.
